Book Recommendation 11 #Reads

The Odessa File by Frederick Forsyth is this week’s book recommendation.

Genre: Novel, Fiction, Thriller, Mystery, Suspense

Why should you pick it up?

I read this book on the suggestion of my dad who is an avid reader himself. I think he had read this book sometime in the 1970s and it is still one of his favorites. After picking it up on his suggestion, I realized I loved it too. The fact that a book could be enticing to a reader in the 70s and then in the present day, is something that really impressed me. It must be a good book if it’s timeless, right? After all, all great books are, timeless.

The book is written by Frederick Forsyth who himself was a journalist and spy, so that’s one of the other impressive things about it. It reads authentic for that very reason.

Apart from that, the book delves into the ‘final solution’ as termed by Hitler which led to so many atrocities, a subject that horrifies and intrigues me even today and also that it’s a thriller.

Lastly, I leave you with the blurb because I don’t want to give anything away about the book except the fact that it’s will keep you hooked until the end!

Blurb

“The suicide of an elderly German Jew explodes into revelation after revelation: a Mafia-like organization called Odessa, a real-life fugitive known as the “Butcher of Riga”, a young German journalist turned obsessed avenger…and ultimately, of a brilliant, ruthless plot to reestablish the worldwide power of SS mass murders and to carry out Hitler’s chilling “Final Solution.”
