The All Powerful Media

You say ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and the first reaction you shall get from people is its Amir Khan’s path breaking television show. Yes that’s the power of media and television these days. Just three episodes old and that’s the effect it has had. It is strange that most of these people do not know that it infact is the National Motto of our Country. I know ironic right? But love them; hate them that’s what Media can do!

The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.

We have had ample illustrations throughout history of the vital role Media plays in shaping the path that society chooses. Newspapers, Television, News and Social Media are pillars on which the sway of the general public is molded. At times it brings in the greatest positive changes while at times it paints in negative the opinions about the innocent.

  1. The truth never makes for compelling television, does it ? Half truths / one sided stories / lies all are great companions to the talk show medium. And our armchair activists can all sit at home, vent their moral outrage and move on to the next hot trending topic of the day.

  2. Loved your take on this issue; totally agree with you on this.

Media is actually all powerful, and it's sheer power to mould or direct minds and citizens can be useful as well as harmful.

  3. Hopefully, the powerful may not forget, power comes with responsibility. We have heard about Murdoch!
Aamir Khan was to speak to parliament, I hear. Government will "SAY AND DO NOTHING" as usual. I heard this phase from a Delhiwallah.

  4. Similar is the case with the remix of the old songs. The vulgarity has replaced some of the beautiful scenes of Lata Mangeshkar songs as well as those of others. The top of mind recall is now the vulgar remixes.

  5. Yes it is true…I agree when you say 'our armchair activists can all sit at home, vent their moral outrage and move on to the next hot trending topic of the day.'

  6. Yes, the media is powerful. We cannot separate ourselves from it, yet, everybody finds fault with the media all time. This is a bit of fresh air :). The media does deserve some credit.
Satyamev Jayate is quite another story. That's an instance of a person using his star power and the television medium to 'remind' us of the ills of our society. Let's hope some good will come out of this partnership.

  7. Completely agree to your quote

‘The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.’

  8. Hope so…we have such short memory that once we change the channels we forget all about it..n unfortunately we need people to remind us of the evils in our society…

  9. Good media is needed to change the face of society, bring about improvements and help rise India.

it is gripped in corruption and wrongdoings, media is also involved in this. But we need good people to change that,,, and media is one of the most powerful source to bring about a change
