Book Recommendation 13 #Reads

Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson is this week’s book recommendation.

Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Psychological Thriller

Why should you pick it up?

I read this book in 2013-2014 and still remember how excited I was at the end of every page because I wanted to know what happens next. Couldn’t wait!

I loved the premise of the book, a woman who wakes up each day not knowing who she is, where she is and what she does. How she tries to get some semblance of balance in her life through writing in her diary.

Can you imagine being in her place? I loved the pace of the book, the way it kept me hooked and how it ended. Without giving anything away, I would say reading this was a rewarding experience for the thriller lover in me.

I know a movie has also been made on it starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth (yes, him 🙂 !). But let me tell you, the book is a million times better than the movie. Aren’t they all? You need to read this even if you have watched the movie.

Leaving you with the blurb. Enjoy. And let me know if you pick it up.

Blurb

Christine wakes up every morning in an unfamiliar bed with an unfamiliar man. She looks in the mirror and sees an unfamiliar, middle-aged face. And every morning, the man she has woken up with must explain that he is Ben, he is her husband, she is forty-seven years old, and a terrible accident two decades earlier decimated her ability to form new memories.

Every day, Christine must begin again the reconstruction of her past. And the closer she gets to the truth, the more unbelievable it seems.

  1. I bought this book (and The Nightingale + ,any others) 4-5 months back but couldn’t read. Mainly because of my book reviews commitments (I tell myself repeatedly that now I;m going to read the books that I have bought, of my choice but I end up accepting books for review. Sigh!). Also, I have this weird habit of saving good books, books that I really want to read, to read them later, aaram se. Not sure what does it mean or when I’d get that aaram se type time. 🙂

  2. I loved the movie 😀 didn’t know there was a book, I’ll definitely check it out. I was just looking for some fiction to read, so thank you for inspiration 😀

  3. For some reason this book has been on my Amazon wishlist since ages. Now that you have recommended it, it goes on to my TBR and will pick it up soon. The blurb sounds so thrilling and I’m already excited for the movie. Come on, it’s Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth! WOW! That’s a winner, right there.
