One of the benefits of mindfulness is the awareness of the present, of the moment. It is the acknowledgement of what is and the conscious decision to make the best of it. And that’s where Rumi comes in for me.
Well, let me explain.
I have been stressed about my job for some time now. The physical strain of being a mum while managing so many roles at the same time becomes all the more difficult when a part of your life doesn’t go as planned. But after the unhinged downward spiral towards depressing thoughts, I made a conscious decision to inculcate positivity in any way possible. Mindfulness being just one of the tools.
And here’s how Rumi figures in this equation. One of the things I have decided to do as part of my mindful living project is to go through inspirational quotes daily. You could call it a sort of positive reaffirmation. And I don’t need to tell you how even a simple Rumi quote can be so powerful when it comes to inspiration.
So, here are 10 beautiful Rumi quotes just for you and me.
The wound is the place where the Light enters you.
What you seek is seeking you.
Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.
If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?
Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure.
Suffering is a gift. In it is hidden mercy.
Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.
The cure for pain is in the pain.
What hurts you, blesses you. Darkness is your candle.
The moon stays bright when it doesn’t avoid the night.
Tell me, which among these is your favourite? Or, share which is your favourite Rumi quote.
