10 Beautiful Maya Angelou Quotes

There’s just something so peaceful about reading inspirational quotes that I love so much. Something as trivial as sifting through sayings from celebrated authors, philosophers and poets can actually make any ordinary day quite significant. Actually, meaningful.

Today, with a tired body and exhausted mind, I decided to go through some of Maya Angelou’s quotes. And what can I say, the experience was liberating, freeing as expected.

So, here are a few of those for you.

I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.  This I need to work hard at.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.

I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass.

I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.

You alone are enough. You have nothing to prove to anybody.

Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it.

Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean. I must admit I’m bitter about some life experiences. And I get angry too soon as well.

I sustain myself with the love of family.

A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretence and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself.

I could go on and on but let me end with this last one, my favourite.

I am a Woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal Woman, that’s me.

Tell me, which among these is your favourite? Or, is there another quote of hers that you love? Please do share.
