10 Inspiring Quotes From Rumi

One of the benefits of mindfulness is the awareness of the present, of the moment. It is the acknowledgement of what is and the conscious decision to make the best of it. And that’s where Rumi comes in for me.

Confused?

Well, let me explain.

I have been stressed about my job for some time now. The physical strain of being a mum while managing so many roles at the same time becomes all the more difficult when a part of your life doesn’t go as planned. But after the unhinged downward spiral towards depressing thoughts, I made a conscious decision to inculcate positivity in any way possible. Mindfulness being just one of the tools.

And here’s how Rumi figures in this equation. One of the things I have decided to do as part of my mindful living project is to go through inspirational quotes daily. You could call it a sort of positive reaffirmation. And I don’t need to tell you how even a simple Rumi quote can be so powerful when it comes to inspiration.

So, here are 10 beautiful Rumi quotes just for you and me.

The wound is the place where the Light enters you.

What you seek is seeking you.

Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.

If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?

Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure.

Suffering is a gift. In it is hidden mercy.

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.

The cure for pain is in the pain.

What hurts you, blesses you. Darkness is your candle.

The moon stays bright when it doesn’t avoid the night.

Tell me, which among these is your favourite? Or, share which is your favourite Rumi quote.

  1. I love them all but my favorite is the first one. The wound is the place where the light enters you 🙂 Beautiful quotes.

  2. What a wonderful way to start my day Naba! Thank you so much! I kind of needed this right now! ‘Let yourself be silently drawn to the strange pull of what you love. It will not lead you astray’ this is one’s ringing a lot of bells with me.

  3. Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.
My fav. Though all are gems.

  4. Wow, I loved each of these quotes. Rumi sure had such depth in his words. My favorite from the quotes here is “What you seek is seeking you,” since it is on the lines of the law of attraction. What you think becomes your reality. I do hope you adjust the situation soon, both at work and at home. I know how overwhelming it can be. But in time it settles down.

  5. First of all a big hug Naba- life can seem very down at times; but its a wheel and will go up soonest – I can totally relate to your state rigth now and clicked on your post to read seeing the magic word RUMI – How I love his words; each one is like a soothing balm. I loved all the quotes but #2 stood out the most for me! Cheers and hugs!

  6. lovely collection of quotes. I have always loved Rumi’s quotes. All are so good that hard to pick one. 🙂
Hope things better for you, Naba. hugs!

  7. Reading such quotes should make us all humble, I guess that should be the primary purpose of any inspiration…rest everything follows.

My favorite is the one on hurt (2nd last).

  8. If you get irritated by every rub, how will the mirror get polished? I would pick this. Ofcourse all of them are nice. But this did give me that good feel. Probably its because of the mood I am in today
